Spice it Up: Pork

At first glance, pork may not necessarily seem as versatile as other meats like chicken or beef. With the right attitude and the right seasonings, though, it can be! Here are some of our favorite pork recipes, as well as some ideas to spice them up.

  • Pulled Pork is a classic southern American BBQ dish that is often served at family dinners or summer get-togethers. It’s also a relatively easy dish to make-- since pulled pork is traditionally slow-roasted or smoked, it can be cooked in a dutch oven, crockpot, or Instant Pot. This means that really, all you need to do is season your pork shoulder and then use your cooking method of choice to cook it at a low temperature for a few hours. When it’s done cooking, all you have to do is shred it! If you’re looking for something a little different from the typical BBQ and brown sugar sauce, try using Spicy, Sweet & Tangy to make your own sauce!

  • Pork Chops are another classic pork dish. There is an infinite number of ways to cook a pork chop-- you could grill it, bake it, or cook it in a cast-iron skillet, just to name a few. While most people probably associate BBQ with pork chops (or any variety of pork, for that matter), you can do a lot more with them than just that! Try them with Oh, My Sweet Chipotle-- the sweet honey combined with the smoky flavor of chipotle peppers gives it the perfect balance of sweetness and heat!

  • Sticky Pork is a great dish for adding a little Asian flair to your pork. While sticky pork traditionally tends to be made with flavors like BBQ, ginger, honey, or garlic in mind, those are certainly not your only options! This dish is also great when served over plain rice, which allows the rice to pick up the same flavor from your pork. If you want to make your sticky pork a little more interesting, try using our Moroccan seasoning. This Northern African-inspired blend is a great way to add a little bit of subtle heat to your dish!

Of course, the options don’t end here-- our seasoning blends are so versatile that you’re bound to find something you love to spice up your pork recipes!
