Spice it Up: Different Types of Breads

There are hundreds of different types of bread, and yet it would seem that it’s still looked at as the most boring food whose purpose is purely to make sandwiches with tastier, more interesting ingredients between the slices. We’re here to remind you that bread doesn’t have to be just a boring pantry staple! Here are just a few ways to spice it up.

Banana Bread

One of the most popular types of bread, besides white and wheat, of course, is banana bread. On its own, banana bread is one of the simplest types of bread you can make– all you need is some overripe bananas, butter, baking soda, salt, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and flour. But that doesn’t mean it has to be boring! You can upgrade your banana bread recipe by adding fun mix-ins like nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruit, or experimenting with different spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom.

Pull-Apart Bread

There are endless possibilities when it comes to pull-apart bread. Some of the more popular versions include cheesy pull-apart bread or pizza-inspired pull-apart bread, but that doesn’t mean those are your only choices!

Pull-apart bread is simple to make. Simply use a knife to create crosshatches in an unsliced loaf of bread, stuff it with whatever you like, and bake it. Some of our favorite variations of this buffalo chicken pull-apart bread (try adding some My Cousin Pookie Buffalo Wing Rub for an extra kick!), bacon and ranch pull-apart bread, and spinach artichoke pull-apart bread. If you want to put a sweeter spin on the classic pull-apart bread, try using caramel and apples to make it dessert!

Zucchini Bread

Zucchini bread is another classic. All you need to make basic zucchini bread is zucchini, butter, flour, salt, baking soda and powder, cinnamon, eggs, apple sauce, vegetable oil, sugar, and vanilla. But, like banana bread, there are endless amounts of mix-ins that can be used in zucchini bread.

Nuts or pecans are popular add-ins with zucchini bread. But if you don’t like nuts or have an allergy, you can also use chocolate chips, dried fruit, or anything else your heart desires! If you really want to change it up, you could also switch out your zucchini for yellow squash or include some bananas!

These are some of our favorite ways to spice up bread, but they certainly aren’t the only ways! While bread is considered a staple in most houses, it can also be very versatile. You can even make some fun changes to your typical white bread recipe by adding seasonings like Sesame Herb & Garlic or Pasta Lovers Paradise. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
